Description

Set in the picturesque Cornish fishing harbour of Mevagissey, this high-energy sketching workshop invites you to capture dynamic coastal landscapes, historic working boats, and narrow village streets. Based out of Jubilee Village Hall, artists Colin Woodward and Toby Haseler will lead you through a mix of studio-based technique clinics and real-world en plein air sketching.

What to Expect

Designed to be hands-on and immersive, each day starts in the studio with exercises to loosen up your linework and build compositional confidence before heading outdoors to capture the light, movement, and character of Mevagissey on location.

  • Day 1: An intensive, full day of demonstrations, studio warm-ups, and guided on-location sketching (weather permitting). Typically this day runs from 0900-1630

  • Day 2: A focused continuation of urban and harbour sketching techniques, usually starting a little earlier wrapping up at 15:00 to give you time to travel or relax.

Workshop Highlights

  • Dual Tutor Instruction: Receive live demonstrations, step-by-step guidance, and personal feedback from two experienced artists, Colin Woodward and Toby Haseler.

  • Harbour & Coastal Focus: Learn how to break down complex harbour scenes, boats, stone cottages, and coastal reflections into quick, expressive drawings.

  • Central Creative Base: Jubilee Village Hall provides a comfortable studio space for group reviews, tea breaks, and shelter from the weather if needed.
