Get ready for a dynamic, high-energy weekend of drawing with artists Colin and Toby in the heart of the Cotswolds. Hosted at the iconic Lower Slaughter Village Hall, this action-packed weekend merges indoor studio warm-ups with outdoor urban sketching en plein air, helping you capture historic architecture, streetscapes, and village scenery with confidence and speed.

Schedule & Daily Outline

  • Saturday (09:00 – 16:00): A full, immersive day starting with studio exercises to loosen up your line work, followed by guided on-location sketching around the village.

  • Sunday (09:00 – 15:00): A focused session expanding on urban sketching techniques, perspective, and dynamic compositions before wrapping up mid-afternoon.

What Is Included & What to Bring

  • Included: Full tuition, tea, coffee, and light snacks throughout both days. Core supplementary materials are provided on site.

  • What to Bring: A sketchbook, watercolour paper (A4 and A3 sizes), watercolours, sketching pens, and watercolour pencils.

Venue Facilities & Logistics

  • Amenities: The village hall includes a kitchen and fridge to store your lunch, with a local pub just down the road. Bourton-on-the-Water is a 5-minute drive (or 30-minute walk) away for additional shops and food options.

  • Parking: Free/available parking is located right in Lower Slaughter.

  • Accommodation: Nearby options include boutique hotels in Lower Slaughter, local Airbnbs in Bourton-on-the-Water, or wider hotel availability in Cheltenham (a 20-minute drive away).

UK Event Booking Terms & Conditions

1. Booking & PaymentBookings for UK-based workshops and events are made directly with Toby Haseler trading as Sketch Loose (Sole Trader). Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place.

2. Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • More than 6 weeks’ notice (42+ days before the event start date): You are eligible for a full refund if you cancel your booking more than 6 weeks prior to the event.
  • Within 6 weeks of the event (less than 42 days): Bookings are strictly non-refundable. Because venue hire, guest limits, and preparation costs are committed in advance, we cannot offer refunds, partial refunds, or date transfers within this 6-week window regardless of the reason for cancellation (including illness, travel delays, or personal circumstances).

3. Ticket Transfers & Name ChangesIf you cannot attend and it is within the 6-week non-refundable period, you are welcome to pass your ticket on to someone else. Please inform us via email at least 48 hours prior to the event start date with the full name and contact details of the person attending in your place.

4. Event Cancellations by Sketch LooseIn the rare event that a workshop must be cancelled or rescheduled by Sketch Loose (e.g., due to tutor illness or severe venue issues), you will receive a 100% full refund of the workshop fee or the option to transfer your place to a rescheduled date. Sketch Loose cannot be held liable for any independent travel, accommodation, or incidental costs incurred.

5. Personal Belongings & InsuranceWe strongly advise all participants to take out personal insurance to cover independent travel, accommodation, or last-minute personal cancellations. Participants remain responsible for their own art supplies, personal property, and belongings throughout the duration of the event.
